Frequently Asked Questions
When can I start?
Students can begin classroom instruction at 15 years and 9 months of age. NOTE:They cannot start even a day before! This is the R.M.V.'s rule, not ours, so please don't register them or drop them off at a new class if they are not old enough. Students must obtain a learner's permit prior to scheduling/taking any road lessons.
How long does it take to finish the classroom portion?
The classroom portion of the drivers education program (30 HOURS) can be completed in 1-5 weeks depending on which class you take.
1 week class (Monday - Friday) - 9:00am - 3:30pm (6 hours x 5 days)
5 week class (Saturdays) - 9:00am - 3:30pm (6 hours x 5 weeks)
5 week night class (Monday/Wednesday OR Tuesday/Thursday) - 6:30pm - 9:30pm (3 hours x 2 nights x 5 weeks)
How long does it take to finish road lessons?
Students typically take 12 weeks to complete their driving hours (based on hours available due to schedule openings and students busy schedules). Road lessons are available 6 days a week. The hours available for driving lessons depend on the season and the school location:
GRAFTON: Tuesday-Thursday 11 A.M. - 7 P.M., Friday 11 A.M. - 6 P.M., Saturday 10 A.M. - 6 P.M.
SHREWSBURY: Monday-Friday 2 P.M. - 6 P.M.
Please note that we require our students to have 8 to 10 hours of driving before they do road lessons with us. The reason for this is we are not allowed to go into parking lots to teach a beginner per our insurance company policies.
Do you offer a payment plan?
Financial difficulties? We understand things in life happen. We're glad to help our students achieve their license goal by arranging payment options for individual circumstances. Please call our office so we can work with you and let your teen reach their goal.
Do you have a one-week course?
Yes, we offer a 1-week course during school vacations and periodically during summer break.
What is the parent class?
The parent/guardian class is a requirement of the driver's education course per RMV, which is a 2 hour class. It is intended to educate parents/guardians about the driver's education curriculum, the junior operators laws, and the driving skills and behaviors that their children will be learning. It is important for parents/guardians to be aware of the skills and behaviors that they should be performing while driving so that they can best educate their children to be both safe and skilled drivers. Only 1 parent must attend.
The parent class is an excellent opportunity for parents to meet their children's teacher, to ask questions, and address any concerns they may have.
If a student is 18 years old or older, the parent is not required to attend the parent class. If the parent/guardian has attended a parent class within the last 5 years they do not need to attend another parent class. They will need to provide the school proof of this.
What happens if I miss a classroom day?
Flexibility is our middle name! If you missed a class, you can make it up in either our Shrewsbury or Grafton location with another class. Call our office to verify which classroom time you missed and let us help you with your options to make up the class time.

Where do you pick up and drop off students for road lessons?
LET US COME TO YOU! We understand in many families, both parents/guardians work. This can make it difficult for parents/guardians to take their children to a pick-up location or to pick them up after a lesson. We are happy to pick up our students at home, school, work, or another location of their choice, with the condition that the location is within our area of service. Please inquire with our office to determine if we are able to meet your needs.
Assuming my teen has completed the entire Driver Education course, how long does it take to be able to actually take the road exam?
Assuming the student has completed the entire course (i.e., 30 hours of classroom. 12 hours of behind the wheel driving, 6 hours of observation time), has had a valid permit for a minimum of 6 months and 1 day from the issue date, AND the parent/guardian has completed the Parent Class, it can take 3-6 weeks to have their exam (times can vary based on road exam dates available). For this reason a student should not want to prolong the Driver's Education Course any longer than they have to so they can get their license as quickly as is possible per R.M.V. requirements.
